Nancy Alice Ryherd, 102, of Decatur, IL passed away on Wednesday (Nov. 16, 2011) at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A service to celebrate Alice’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 19, 2011) at Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Riverside Baptist Church, American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
Mrs. Ryherd was born on October 24, 1909 in Gamaliel, KY, the daughter of Sam and Eliza (Humphrey) Marsh. Alice was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and in her youth was a school teacher. She was a devout Christian who loved God. She was a good wife and a very loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Alice will be greatly missed and loved forever. She married Herman Ryherd on February 21, 1933. He preceded her in death on July 23, 1975.
Surviving are her children: M.J. Ryherd of Mt. Zion, IL, LeRoy (Nancy) Ryherd of Mt. Zion, IL, Trudy Glosser of Decatur, IL, Sue (Brian) Townsend of Decatur, IL and Betty Ryherd of Decatur, IL; sisters: Hazel Green of Urbana, IL, Ida Gentry of Decatur, IL and Fannie Ryherd of Lexington, KY; eleven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Margaret Ryherd of Kenney, IL.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons: Guy “Red” Ryherd and Samuel Ryherd, four brothers, son-in-law: Pete Glosser, daughter-in-law: Frances Ryherd.
The family would like to thank the staff at McKinley Court and Decatur Memorial Hospital 4th Floor for the loving care Alice received.
